Community Art Class

** The art class is postponed due to the COVID-19 and the new date will be scheduled as the situation progresses.

Who should join?

  • Amateur Artists who want to develop professional skills
  • Students who want to improve their portfolio
  • Anyone who wants to engage their passion for art in a group
  • Anyone who loves arts and drawing

Class contents

  • Still life drawings
  • Free hand portrait drawings
  • Oil paintings (basic black and white), and oil paintings with 4 color palette
  • Advanced level: Narrative composition with drawings or paintings
  • Clothed figure drawings

Each session is 5-week and at the end of every two sessions, there will be an art exhibition.

First class: March 14 at 3-5 PM
Session 1 – 5 weeks (March 14, 21, 28; April 4, 11)

– Still life drawing, understand the concept of how to see and how to compose objects with realistic rendering.

Session 2 – 5 weeks ( April 25; May 2, 9, 16, 23)

– Free hand portrait drawing, lectures on drawing human head, able to draw faces with realistic approach with rendering.

Fee

$350 for each 5-week session Class location:

2717 Judah Street (Judah and 32nd Avenue)


* Free Art talks on March 7 / Time:

3-5 pm at 2717 Judah Street Basic history and break down how art has been part of our lives and influence the future.

Who is Zimou Tan?

Artist Zimou Tan graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2001 with degrees in both Fine Arts and Traditional Illustration. He served there as a professor of Fine Arts until 2014, when he left to focus on his portraiture commissions. In 2003, Mr. Tan won the Northern California Gold Metal portrait painting competition.  2005, he was the Gold Medal Winner at the Hudson Valley Art Association’s 74th Annual Exhibition. In 2006, Tan won Best of Show at the Morro Bay Art Association Group Exhibit.  In 2015, he won the Grand Prize at the International Artist Magazine Portrait and Figure contest.
